Who doesn’t love playdough? This quick and easy playdough recipe provides perfect opportunities for color mixing, learning about cause and effect, and exercising fine motor skills.

Just mix together
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 2 tbsp cream of tartar
Then carefully pour in
- 1 cup hot/boiling water
- 2 tbsp salt
*Add in more salt or flour as needed.


Once the dough is formed, it will have cooled down enough for your kiddos to mix in any desired coloring. Divide the dough into as many colors as you want. We used around 10 drops of food coloring for each color, but you can use whatever dye you’d like!
After everything is mixed evenly, you have colorful and vibrant homemade playdough! There’s so much you can do with this open-ended activity. Like color-mixing!
